First week in Bali

It has already been a week since I landed to Bali. My friend took me from the airport to Ubud and it felt nice to arrive to a place I already know so well. Seeing old friends were also such a joy.

For the first two nights I stayed in one of the rooms I already designed here and it was great to be able to try how it feels to stay in "Draupadi". There is still some small things to be fixed but in general the space has the wanted atmosphere and feeling! The other room, "Graeme" is also ready and naturally I'm happy to see that they are actually selling out very well. The fish pond infront of the rooms is almost done but there is no water yet.

I started working already by updating the menu and by making a handout map of Ubud showing all nice places around here. The workers are now making a new parking lot for the motorbikes and that will keep them busy for few more weeks. Meanwhile I started already making the blue prints of the next rooms to be renovated.

Other than that I have just slowly started to check out the new shops, restaurants and places I haven't yet visited. I'm also lookign for new models and new locations for future photoshoots.

Here are some phone pictures from the last days

Very fresh magazine I bought from Hong Kong's airport. Not sure how to get the following issues but by this one, im a fan!

"Draupadi"

"Graeme"

and the tiles that still makes me happy.

Tropical view to the pool.

My two animal friends from my friends' house.

I really enjoy my current room on the rooftop.

The fish pond is almost ready to be filled with water and those fire red carps.

Can't wait to see it done.

Making new ceiling to the parking lot.

Discovering new nature spots for future photoshoots

And having a swim where the stream is not too strong.

For inspiration - China's fashion

Like I've told you before I'm collecting magazines from different countries. I find it interesting to see how different cultures uses photography for example when it comes to fashion. Here are some photos from Chinese vogue. I like this magazine because they use a lot of Asian model and chinese design.

Taiteilijaelämää family exhibition

A lot has happened since I last wrote in here. My second school year is over, I left my place in Lahti (I'll tell more about that later) and our long planned family exhibition is now open!

The exhibition is in 3 rooms. First one is showing the graphic art made by my mother. The second room is filled with kitch/postlost items my dad has collected from all arond as souvenir (Soviet union, DDR...) and the last room contains my two exhibitions. One for the Haute Couture jewellery and the other is photos about movement. My brother has made the audio world for my and dad's exhibitions.

The exhibition is open 1.6-16.6.2012 in Laterna Magica gallery (Rauhankatu 7 Helsinki). We try to be there present as much as we can (I've been sick for the last days and missed few days :()

Here are few photos of the place. You are all more than welcome to have a visit!

For inspiration - Morocco's fashion

Every time I travel abroad, I like to buy the local fashion magazines. I find them inspiring because they are so different (especially the not European ones). They also tells more about the culture and how they see highfashion and it's interesting to try to find out the local shades and ideas, which I usually find more delightful.

l'Officiel Maroc is one of the most popular fashion magazines in Morocco, and the coverstory has some beautiful colour combinations and bold use for colours.

Places for the magazines

Im collecting some magazines (AD, The World Of Interiors, the ones with Jolie on cover, Vogues from asia, ect...) and I'm very attracted by the covers and i want to keep them in a good condition - so i need some places for them.

Fabric pockets for the magazines
And the rest of the magazines you find under the sofatable which is made by two dairyboxes and a old window.
