The fatal dog bite

Today I went for my daily "let see what's over there" walk and ended up to this private house. First I tought it was a hotel so I just walk in. Then one man came to ask what am I doing. After telling him what I study and how I really like the place he told me to look around and left.

The ponds were full of carps and goldfishes.

First I saw only the little ones, but after a wile the big ones (lower left corner and in front) came up too. They were maybe 80cm long or even more and their faces were huge! It was so beautiful and a bit scary to see them rising from the darkness.

While I was taking photos and looking around, the dog lying on terrace came more and more interested in me and started to bark. Slowly the dog started to came closer still barking so I tought it's my time to leave. I was walking back still facing the dog but when at the gate I turned around the dog jumped and bite me to my heel. It didn't hurt much but it was bleeding a bit. I went to the pharmacy and when I was cleaning the hurt a chinese woman walking by gave me a bandage (she had also hurted her leg so she happened to have all the stuff with her).

To be honest I tought thats it but when I told Ketut that the dog had biten me he said I must see a doctor, because every year there are many people dying for the dog bites in Bali. Rabies is quite common here in dogs (but not so common in monkeys the doctor told).

At the medical center they cleaned my leg again and after figuring out my insurance was valid they first vaccinated my arm. Then they vaccinated the wound 5 times and after this they gave two more for bouth buttocks. I felt like a pincushion! I must go there 3 more times to get some more shots but after this it is confident to say that I wont get rabies :) Over all this will cost 1500€ but luckily it dosn't have to come from my pocket!

We have been to so many nice cafés and restaurants it is impossible to keep up :)

Beautiful lotus ponds between lotus cafe and Puri Saraswati in the center of Ubud.

Evening at Clear café

We have been to so many places and seen so much it is difficult to keep up! Well few days ago we went with Ayu to check out this place called Clear café. 

The enterance

The enterance across the street. The place has two sides: Light, high, one-floor side and behind it there is darker two-floor side with ponds and plants.

We went upstairs. The floor felt quite thin bending every time you step on it.

Ayu were a bit afraid of the hights. Upstairs there were also japanese style lower tables.

We already had dinner, so this was more like a dessert kind of deal. Mulberry for me and Strawberry lime for Ayu.

Downstairs between the two sides there is a big curtain made of old chinese coins. It looked supergood!

Also some of the tables had crushed glass to fill the holes of the wood.

After having the cakes we went to cafe Havana just to sit and have some drinks while there were wild salsa dance going on inside. The loud music and atmosphere really took you to a different place.

Cafe Havanas upstairs were more intimate and romatic with the chandeliers and balconies. You can see Ayu dancing some waltz in the mirror.

We sat in the terrace with pillars full of drawings and notes made by happy people :)

Sacred

I haven't yet seen the temple dances but deffinitely want to go soon! These girls were waiting for their turn outside the Ubud village's temple. In the second picture the river were carrying many litters used to carry offerings to the temples and shrines.

wood shop

Before going to the shell shop I went to this place full of wood. There were these beautiful, over 3 meters long wooden (mahogany, wenge, teak ect...) boards that will make great tables. We are thinking of buying one to the Gayatri house. Instead of birch or pine wood which we use a lot in Finland, these does feel more ethnic and has that luxury feeling when you touch it.

Igna bungalows

As a part of my internship I must also look around the local places and different styles they use here. If the Gayatri bungalows where I stay is more traditional and tropical, this place is more modern and strict. The black and white theme goes through the rooms and it is a great contrast for the wild nature.
They are actually still building the place but so good so far :)

Gayatri bungalows

This is where I stay here in Ubud. The place is in very, very good location in monkey forest road and it is easy to wonder around by foot or by motorbikes. The bungalows are very beautiful and the nature and plants with the patina of the statues makes it feel very tropical and cosy. There are one floor bungalows and then two bigger 3-floor buildings with several bunglows with great balconies. When you enter the place, u first see this fountain and reception, and when you follow the paths you end up to the bungalows and finally to the pool.

There are many ponds around the bungalows.

Few days ago we went to Taro village again to order some stone lanterns to put around the paths and pool. I'll post pictures abut them when they are ready and installed.
